Tennessee DUI Statistics

In Tennessee, 686 people died in alcohol related traffic accidents in 1986, which was the highest number in the last twenty years. Drunk driving deaths have since plunged to 447 in 2003. The percentage of traffic fatalities that were alcohol related was highest in 1982, with 63%, and reached the lowest level in 2003 and 2005, with 37%. For the most recent year reported, out of all traffic fatalities, 31% involved a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08 or higher, down from 57% in 1982.
